Hi all Qlikkies & Inphinities and welcome to the new release of Inphinity Forms.
This release is a signature one quite literally and here’s why.
Firstly, we’re introducing a brand new Signature field that lets users capture handwritten signatures directly inside Qlik. Whether you’re on a desktop, tablet, or mobile phone, you can sign using a mouse, stylus, touchpad, or simply your finger.
The second reason is innovation. This release expands use cases you can use your Qlik on-prem and Qlik Cloud for, such as attendance and check-in forms, approvals requiring sign-off, signed outputs and reports from quality assurance or inspections.
And the third reason is one I like the most – this innovative idea came from our customer. A few months ago, a company using Inphinity for their sales budgeting & forecasting processes, asked if they could collect signatures for training attendance. That sparked the development. And now it’s here.
Let’s explore the “Signature” together.
Main Concept
The original use case was to create training attendance forms where participants sign off after each session – confirming their presence at a specific training, on a given date and time. Technically speaking, the requirement was to display a table with a list of attendees and provide a button for each person to add their signature. This button shows either a placeholder or a miniature preview of the signature once it’s added.

Clicking the button opens a dialog showing all the data to be signed, along with an optional customizable consent and an area to draw the signature. If the data has already been signed, the existing signature is displayed.

Signed Data
During the design process, we’ve added some useful features. For example, when the data is signed, you can lock the data to prevent any further changes or even highlight them.

Or, if it is needed, you can let people update the data – any modification will invalidate the signature.

Forms Single Record
Surely, the newly added field type can be used in Forms Single Record, too.

Technical Information
To answer the main question of all developers – “Signature” field is stored in the same data storage as other fields. It is a JSON object containing signed content, consent, metadata and a machine-readable representation of the signature image.
You can find more details in the documentation.
Inphnity Universe (Demo Apps) Updates
The new “Signature” field is already showcased in:
- Sales Planning & Forecasting application, where you can sign off approved targets
ESG Initiatives applications to sign off approved projects – signed off projects are highlighted and not-editable
Patient Flow application where it is used in the Forms Single Record to signed patient’s report
Other Improvements
As always, we have also added minor enhancements to other objects and fixed reported bugs. You can find the full changelog here.
