Inphinity Suite August 2022: Making analytics easy

Qlik excels at making difficult things easy for end users as well as developers. It’s the tool you can use to develop small projects in days but also cover very complex and specific demands. Based on our own experience with Qlik, the Inphinity team decided to build upon this when developing our own products in order to push the boundaries of Qlik even further.

We’ve built the whole Project tracking solution around Inphinity Forms in Qlik Sense. The development was much faster and easier than it would be with other technologies. A crucial part was the unique option to upload files to the server directly from the Qlik application by using Inphinity Forms. It is already used in production, saves time, and brings value also by having data directly in Qlik where we analyze it.

Inphinity Forms

Inphinity Forms, as well as Qlik itself, can be used to cover small simple use cases (add your own categorization or notes to data) as well as very complex ones (approval processes, budgeting and planning, accounting closures). The main goal of this release was to bring simplicity to all of them. Starting with automated deployment of Inphinity Forms SaaS, simplified properties panel for basic users up to multiple integrations with QAA. I believe that the goal was achieved – see for yourself.

Automated deployment of Inphinity Forms SaaS

What can be easier than just running the automated installer? Fill in your Qlik Cloud domain, API key, and your Inphinity Forms SaaS will be ready to be used in a minute! 🤩

Inphinity Forms SaaS management app

To make the management of Inphinity Forms SaaS even easier for admins, the main functions (create users, create new data storage, and manage permissions) are now manageable directly from your Qlik Cloud – due to the Inphinity Forms SaaS Management application. It is automatically imported to your Qlik Cloud during the automated deployment.

Multiple integrations with Qlik application automation

Qlik Application Automation is a powerful platform available in Qlik Cloud that automates different processes based on your definition. Of course, considering users’ decisions (manual inputs) is crucial in real life, e.g. importance, ownership, deadline, or activity to be done. Therefore, we are very proud that Qlik introduced the Inphinity connector in QAA. It enables you to easily read data saved via Inphinity Forms in the QAA as well as save data there (e.g. information about being processed, data from other systems, precalculated or prefilled data that users will change manually).

Once user inputs are considered in processes, it makes sense to trigger the process when the user has finished making changes. In Inphinity Forms 11.1 there are multiple ways to do this:

✔ New reload type, run QAA, is supported – when I click the default button, data is saved and QAA triggered

✔ New action, run QAA, is supported – custom button triggering the process can be defined

✔ REST integration (on save or as a custom button) can also be used – available even before – I just wanted the complete list

Even more flexibility (column order)

Based on feedback, we’ve released a very simple and intuitive way to define the column order in Inphinity Forms General (table structure). In the new section in the properties panel, Column order, you can drag&drop columns to define their order. It couldn’t be easier.

✔ Dimensions

✔ Measures

✔ Form (editable) fields

✔ Metadata (author & timestamp of the last change)

✔ Status icon (edited, locked)

✔ Row-level buttons (single record view, delete, custom buttons)

User levels – easier start

After years of development, Inphinity Forms became a platform within a platform. So many powerful options and possibilities. Yet, for those who are just starting to get familiar with Inphinity Forms, it might be overwhelming. Therefore, in this release, we have introduced the User level:

✔ Basic – the main functionality only, default option when creating a new object

✔ Advanced – all the powerful features are shown

Inphinity Flow

Inphinity Flow is a unique Qlik-native extension – a process and hierarchy visualization tool that works directly with the Qlik associative data model. Many of you are using it to visualize the data generated automatically by your systems – audit logs from ticketing systems, CRMs, production lines, and many more. When the data is visualized, it is much easier to spot steps that aren’t logical and bottlenecks in the process.

Never get lost!

Especially when real-life data is used, there can be tens or hundreds of steps in there! To analyze the graph you zoom in, move to the left, move to the right… Without seeing the whole context, you might get lost. But that is not the case with Inphinity Flow anymore! The minimap is here.

Inphinity Mole

There is so much information and value in all the documents, e-mails, and notes generated by everyone every single day. An unstructured text might be difficult to analyze without the right tools. With Inphinity Mole you can turn your unstructured data into structures directly in the Qlik application, ready to be analyzed.

New built-in patterns

The built-in pattern recognition function identifies personal and sensitive data based on country-relevant algorithms.

In the current release, new countries are covered – Germany and Austria. Together with the rest already available (United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovak Republic) it is a good foundation to start analyzing your unstructured data – even if you are an international company.

Pattern recognition is showcased in the application Inphinity Mole – Get Started available for download.

Custom patterns

Built-in patterns are defined based on the known algorithms in each country or on a general level (e.g. IBAN, e-mail, national identity number,…). However, a large set of personal and sensitive data is linked to the systems and processes in your company. Those can be employee identifiers, order numbers, customer and supplier IDs, or any other attributes.

For those cases, custom patterns in Inphinity Mole can be used. The definition of the pattern is technical, yet it is based on the commonly used regular expression syntax.

And those were just major features. See the changelog in the documentation to explore all of them.
